LATEST FEATURE!

Welcome to my TEDTa… well not really, but it was fun nonetheless! This talk is for anyone considering the nursing profession. Dispelling myths, talking about what it takes, what you make, and how it changed my life in so many ways! Here is the shareable video link: https://youtu.be/jF3YW–33qQ

About.

WHO IS THIS FELLA’?

Now that that’s out of the way– let’s talk about who I be.

I was a kid from Philly that moved out to Seattle, WA when I was still a youngin’. Still though, when you’re raised by east-coast parents, enough of that swag rubs off on ya. (I’m walkin’ hea!!)

As a nurse for over 8 years now, and I’ve worked and/or been trained in just about every part of a hospital.

I traveled as an RN both in and out of the state. (see my video from Molokai, Hawaii below). I also volunteered internationally at both clinics in underserved communities and teaching English to young boys in orphanages. They got a kick out of my drone, and I got my tail kicked in soccer.. err.. “fútbol.”

In-shape and out-of-shape for most of my younger life, fitness has finally become second nature. I usually get to the gym everyday, even if it’s just for a quick 15. So, while I might be a guy with a favorable physique, I gotta lotta stretch marks that’ll tell you stories about when I wasn’t. On that note, mental health has been a primary passion of mine. Not only because, to this very moment, I struggle with it myself. But because family, friends, and the countless patients I’ve encountered struggle with it too. I got plans to do something about that..

GETTIN’ IT STARTED..

I started making videos in 2018 for both healthcare and non-healthcare professionals alike. They cover topics on health for the entire family, from birth to death, to help educate and inform any audience out there I can capture. Through my work, I’ve been fortunate enough to have been recognized by, and received accolades and awards from some of our nation’s most highly-regarded organizations and institutions. (see Achievements below)

Featured here is a video from Nurses Week 2020, all about what I do. It’s definitely worth a watch. Enjoy!

Video Production.

3.. 2.. 1.. ACTION!

All of the videos below have been entirely produced by me. I aim to make them engaging, entertaining, informative, and inspirational. Please note most of my videos have been housed on the Facebook Video platform. I’ve had my YouTube channel private since mid-2020. Have a look at some of my styles of production.. and don’t forget to subscribe now that it’s back up.. 😉
HEALTH EDUCATION

This is the classic “studio” style of educational delivery. Different matters of health and healthcare are covered for non-healthcare and healthcare professionals alike. These range from the video featured below on Hemorrhoids, to Breast Cancer, to Norovirus. Can you identify symptoms of a Stroke? Trust me, there is much more in between.

HEALTH RELATED ACTIVITIES

Out of the studio, I’ve had the opportunity to explore other modalities of educating. The featured video below tests the efficacy of Breast Milk Test Trips. Another great one covers children’s safety, by demonstrating the rapid rise in the heat of automobiles in the summer. Have you heard of Forgotten Baby Syndrome?

INTERVIEWEE

The Washington State Center for Nursing conducted an interview series for Nurses Week 2020. They asked me to cover issues like organization, professional burn-out, self-care, and others. So, I did. There are eight videos jam-packed with information for healthcare professionals. Learn to help yourself with coping strategies. Especially during the times of crisis we all experience.

INTERVIEWER

The “Carpool Consult” is a series I created. I interview healthcare professionals about their specialties within the medicals system. This serves for a multitude of purposes. For one, it educates the public on what certain HCPs do. Furthermore, it’s informative for HCPs to learn about other specialties they may be interested in pursuing. It also dispels some of the myths associated with certain specialties, and to help address issues that can help all HCPs work more cohesively together.

CAMPAIGNS

The SEIU 1099NW employee union asked that I address the strikes that were happening in 2020 at a local hospital system. The impact of this strike had a profound effect on the outcome of the lives of employees and their families. Not to mention the healthcare system itself. My goal was to aid in negotiating a reasonable contract between the organization and the employees it staffs.

TRAVEL

Traveling is a passion of mine. I’ve been fortunate to visit and work in some awesome destinations. But there are far too many places I’d love to travel to think about doing a video for each. At least not if I’m doing all of the producing. 😉 Below is a compilation of my experience working on the small Hawaiian Island named Molokai. Its got only 7,000+ residents, and one stop light on the island. It’s about as true-Hawaiian you can get in out of Hawaii. Enjoy!

LET’S TALK.

Nurse Stefan Torres is a public health figure that loves fitness, fun, and educating on health. From Philadelphia, to Hawaii, to his current residence in Seattle, WA. Here, he graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Though the gloomy overcast has him yearning for his old sunny beach haven on the westside of Maui, Seattle is home. Because home is where the heart is… and his parents, older sister, and nephew live just a stone throw away.

For over eight years, Nurse Stefan has worked in and out of different hospitals. In 2018 he started on his social media venture without hesitation. Fast forward to 2020, where he spent the year training in nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. In short, Botox and fillers.

BUT WORK ASIDE..

When he takes the Nurse Stefan scrubs off, he’s on his comfy couch writing, staying fit at the health club, or trying to break the record for total “The Office” episodes watched. He also visits his parents at least once every other day. In fact that’s where dachshund “Jealous” George knocks chihuahua Minnie out of the way for his attention. Besides all that, he sees his sister and six-year-old nephew just as often.

When he’s not visiting family or exercising the meals off from the local restaurants he frequents with friends, he’s often out hiking. Probably with his DJI drone to get beautiful aerial footage of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer. If it’s Winter time, he’s hitting the slopes when the fresh pow-pow is perfect for snowboarding!

Though video production is the name of his game, Stefan misses the irreplaceable energy that face to face speaking engagements provide. There, he can look people in the eyes and tell them the low down on what’s what about health. Ah, well.. soon enough. Right?!

AND WHAT DOES HE DO?

If you’ve got an opportunity.. come knockin’!
